The last pictures I took of my baby. I want to thank everyone for their purrs and thoughts over the last two days. Tiki got much worse last night and could no long walk more than a step or two. I could tell in his eyes that he was tired. He was tired of fighting and tired of being sick, and just plain tired. I felt that the best, most loving thing I could do for him was to let him rest. So, I took him to the vet this morning, and helped him over the bridge.
He is now resting with my other pets in the garden at my Dad's house. I am heartbroken, of course. But I also know that all of you have helped so much. Thank you for all of the purrs and prayers and thoughts you have sent our way. This community is one of the most wonderful places in the world!

I am sorry to learn of your loss, (I found you through The Modulator,) and I know there isn't much that a stranger could say to sooth your heart, but what you did for Tiki is probably the greatest gift any of us can do for our faithful "pet" family members. To put the comfort of Tiki before your own feelings and emotions must have been incredibly hard, and though I have lost pets before, I have never had to go through that "last trip to the vet".
I now have three cats and three dogs, and undoubtedly I will have to make the same decision one day. I can only hope to have the courage you did when you took Tiki to find eternal comfort.
One last thing... I started my website as a dedication to my cat who died in 2003. I loved her very much, and I understand how grief-filled a person's life can be when they suffer the loss of a pet. In my case it has gotten a little better over time, but mainly because I replaced the memory of her death with those of her life. That was essentially how my website helped me feel better.

I am sorry for your loss of Tiki, I really know how you feel. My 16 year old Melody (cat) had the same symptoms as Tiki and we went to the vets and I helped her to the Bridge, they will be waiting for us someday.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I just came upon your blog-I wish I had found it earlier for I have a cat who has renal failure and a kitty with diabetes. Renal Failure in kitties is horrible and I feel your pain!! I know what you have gone thru! My boy, WInton, made a turn for the worse about 2 months ago and I feel it just a matter of time. It's so sad to see them lose so much weight and just fade. But you did everything you possibly could for your baby!!!! Always remember that! You've been an amazing kitty mommy!!!
